We also value transparency and connection, which is why we prioritize working with local producers to ensure we know where our food and our products come from.

Our Journey

Fourneau's story began in 2015 as a project by Sharon and Ted Burdett of Strand Design. The launch of our core product, the Fourneau Bread Oven, marked our transition into a company. Since then, we've successfully launched four additional Kickstarter projects, allowing us to refine our designs and expand our product offerings.

In 2023 and 2024, we embarked on an ambitious experiment, establishing our own factory, prototyping shop, warehouse, and fulfillment space in Michigan. While this experience provided valuable insights, we've since returned to a model that emphasizes collaboration with local production partners.

Early in 2025, we made the decision to retire the Fourneau Bread Oven. We are now transitioning back to a crowdfunding-based, project-by-project approach.

Looking Ahead

Today, Fourneau operates from Chicago, IL, and New Buffalo, MI, continuing its mission to introduce innovative and fun cooking tools born from the creative minds of the Burdett household.
